After 20 years of people sticking their gum to the walls of an alley by Seattle's Pike Place Market, officials say it is time for a clean-up.
Known as “the gum wall”, the Market announced this week that it will take down the estimated one million pieces of gum from Post Alley.
The sticky landmark has become a popular attraction to visitors and locals.
Emily Crawford, Acting Marketing & Communications Director at Pike Place Market said: "People were waiting in line to see improv theatre, and I think it started off as improvisation and it caught on over the years and now it's one of Seattle's most visited visitor attractions."
